BYU CocoaHeads was formed during the summer of 2008 by a handful of intrepid Mac enthusiasts at Brigham Young University, in Provo Utah. They were looking for a way to network with other local developers and learn more about the Cocoa Frameworks available on the Mac platform. As such, they decided to form a chapter of the international CocoaHeads organization.
The group was formed in late May with three primary goals:
- Provide a resource for local developers to learn more about Mac and iPhone programming
- Provide a convenient way for developers to meet each other and form new contacts
- Show the Computer Science department at Brigham Young University that there is a legitimate interest in Mac development among the student body, thereby encouraging the department to include Macs as part of the mainstream curriculum
